couple of videos

Here are two more videos I have had and just needed to put up.  The first is of him sitting.  All of a sudden about a week ago he started to sit really well by himself, which is good because he and I had decided that was a good goal to shoot for before going out to WA.  Check.

He also really likes to play with stuff with his feet. If he is laying down or something like that and there is something within range of his feet, he will play with it. Here is is playing with a bear with his hands and his tower thing with his feet. Kind of funny.

Dallas Downtown Christmas!

We got the kid all dressed up the other day to go see Santa in the Neiman Marcus downtown because we heard there wasn't as much of a line there.  But Santa had left.  Undeterred by this, we figured we should get some shots of the kid since we got him all dressed up for it.  I like these pictures a lot so I figured I would put them up quick!

Here is another picture that I had from our ice storm we had.  Too good not to put up. (yes, those are socks on his hands... didn't have gloves or anything yet, ha.)

Alright, soon I will stop with the sleeping pictures, but he is so cute when he sleeps and has the funniest sleeping positions! Here are two different nights...

I love that he feel asleep holding onto the rail of the crib and stayed that way here.

It is still this week, right?!  This is a long exposure shot of him taking a nap.  Some of these are hard to take because the light from his lamp is very, very yellow-ish light in photos and then his monitor's IR light (to see in the dark) has that blue-ish light you see on the left.  It is funny because you cannot see that blue light - just shows up via camera (which makes sense, given its design).

6 months!

We cannot believe that this guy is already half a year old!!  Crazy.  In celebration, here is a video of him putting on a show:

videos!

I am a bit behind on putting up some little videos we have been taking with the phone.  Here are three new ones!

He has started to do this caterpillar-like crawling sometimes. It is pretty funny to watch.

Here is another one of him noshing on Sophie. He is pretty talkative with it this time, too. This one is funny because he looks so concerned the whole time.

Finally, we tried butternut squash with him the other night and it went better than the pear did. No gagging at least! Still learning how that tongue works though, ha.

nap time!

Here is a cute photo of these two napping.  Right before I took this he was also facing her, but at least he left his hand on her cheek when he moved a bit.  :)

The kid now has one tooth poking all the way through with a second close behind it.  One of his favorite things to do right now is to feel that new tooth with his fingers.  Cracks me up.

Pears!

Oliver has now had both rice and oatmeal, so we thought we would give him a treat and mash up some pear for him.  Turns out he wasn't much of a fan.  At all.  Like it literally made him gag.  He even has some of those uncontrolled head-shakes some people have with a tequila shot.

Swing time!

It was a beautiful day today so on the way back from our run we thought we would stop by the park and let Oliver try out the swings.  He seemed to like it, but was also super tired so was smiling and thinking about just taking a nap while there.  :)  Anyways, here is a short video of it:

Teeth!!!

Oliver has had a pretty eventful last week or so.  He has started to sleep through the night more often than not (again, over the last week or so - not a long streak just yet).  He tried his first spoonful of rice cereal on one night and a few days later ate the whole bowl we made.  He got his first tooth!!  Crazy.  He is even running around the house now!  Okay - not really.  Just wanted to see if you were paying attention.

Anyways, here are some pictures from this morning.  The kid had some crazy hair!

I am a bit behind on photos, so I have had this one around for a few weeks.  Still counts because I haven't done anything with it or shown it until now... at least that is what I am sticking with.

Just tonight the kid started to actually jump in his jumper thing.  Sometimes he seems to startle himself a little bit, but seemed to also enjoy it.  Cheers.

sleep, pics and video

Oliver has always been a funny sleeper.  He sleeps in the weirdest, most uncomfortable looking positions ever.  This past week he has all of a sudden decided that he needs to sleep on his tummy.  I don't mean he tried it out here and there, I mean one night he all of a sudden almost refused to sleep on his back - including promptly rolling over even in his sleep.  This turned out to be alright since he as been sleeping better.  The other night he had his first non-fluke-sleep-through-the-night-night.  It was great.  I woke up at like 10 to 6 and felt absolutely great.  Hopefully he will do this more often than not now... we shall see.

Anyways, to pics and videos.  Here is a long exposure of his weird sleeping pose - kind of on the back, kind of on the side with the head as far back as possible.

Untitled

Here is one of him sleeping on his stomach:

Oliver Sleeping on tummy

He is also quite the talker these days.  Here are two funny videos of him talking.  In the first one he is sitting in his wedge bounce chair.  He is holding onto my finger to let me bounce him as he "talks" away (sorry my phone is really not the best with pics/videos... you will see the quality difference with Sara's below).

Here is another of him on the play mat "talking" to the toys. The end is better than the start, so if you are bored skip ahead a bit.

project 52 +/-

Five or so years ago 365 Projects were all over Flickr.  This is a photo project where someone shoots, processes and displays a photo everyday for a year.  I always wanted to do it because it looked cool but never did, mostly because I didn't think I could do it for a year.  A friend of ours is doing a project 52 and trying to recruit others - seems much more do-able so I am thinking I may give it a shot.

Here is number one - and it isn't even the kid!

it's always the sleep...

Sometimes it is hard to stop playing and talking to sleep - at least for this guy.  I snuck up on him during nap time the other day and took some video.  This nap just turned into some alone time.

another video

One of these days I will once again post something besides baby stuff.  But then again, I am guessing most anyone who reads this would rather see the baby stuff anyways.  If we put him on this pillow thing, he tends to really enjoy tummy time.  Here's a video.  Ann - he is lovin' the horse!

Oliver's 6th state

We stopped at a rest stop in Delaware for a bit today to stretch and feed the kid.  They had a nice little fall decoration thing set up so we thought it would be fun to take pictures of him sitting on it.  His Beavers sweatshirt matched nicely.  This is Oliver's what-are-you-guys-making-me-do-now face.

some video

Yesterday Oliver was taking a nap in my arms, which was lovely.  It was funny though because he kept having sleep smiles like crazy.  I was able to get a bit of it on video.

Also, he has started to really jibber jabber.  We noticed it on like thursday or so.  Before then he would "talk" for sure, but not nearly like he is now all of a sudden.  This is funny because now his bed times have started to turn into this some nights:

finding sophie

tonight the kid sat all through dinner in his chair as we ate.  It is the small things in life.  he has really started to figure out how to have fun with sophie, too.  Usually gets bored pretty fast, but spent all dinner licking the giraffe...

the boy

This poor little guy lasted 4 days at daycare before catching some kind of a cold.  He has been a trooper though.  Not really fussy much, just makes it a bit harder for him to sleep good.

3 months!

The kid has now passed the three month mark.  I dropped him off at daycare today, which was very sad.  We'll see how that goes.  Anyway, this blog is about three-month pictures and not about Oliver's big (rough?) transition day.  So without further ado, here are some photos of the kiddo.

He is getting quite the repertoire of faces these days...

bedtime stories

Last night the kid slept through the night.  Pretty amazing, considering he has been wanting two feeds most every night.  It may have been a bit of a fluke because he went to bed fairly late, but it is still a good sign.

He is starting to 'talk' a lot more these days and the other night when Sara was putting lotion on him after a bath he was talking up a storm.  As usual, he kind of stopped once we thought of grabbing the camera, but he picks it back up at the end of the video.  Cheers.

this week

This has been a pretty productive week around here.  Sara had off so was able to help with the kid and get some stuff done she has been wanting to get done.  I got about 15 apps turned in, which felt good.  One was funny because the day after I turned the app in they emailed back and asked if I would be interested in doing a Skype interview next week already!  (skype or phone is almost always the first round of interviews before they fly people to campus...)

Anyways, here are some pics of the kid.  The other night he fell asleep with his arm around his lamb pacifier so we had to take a picture of him.  Pretty funny.

Yesterday we had him in this cute little outfit and he was in a super good mood so I took some pics. Can't decide which I like more so here are a few of them:

Photo dump

Here are some pics from the cell phone.  The kid has had reflux issues, and it got worse over the last week so we have had some challenging days.  We switched his medicine though, and it seems to have helped.  So, don't let these pictures convince you he always smiles this much, but when he does you forget the times he doesn't (...kind of).

It is hard to tell here, but his recent game is to smile while he is eating. Super cute. Not so productive.

putting off sleep

One of the kid's new things is to try to put off sleep (or so it seems).  He will just lay there and give this big smiles and little giggles in an attempt to prolong playing.  The other night he stayed up past his bed time playing this game by like 2 hours!  Usually we put the pacifier in like 2 or so times and he is out.  The other night he would spit it out, or "loose" it, and when I would go up to put it back in he would just want to play.  I tried to get it on video, but it was too dark.  I did get a short one during the day yesterday when he was supposed to be napping though:

the kid

This little one seems to really be growing up quickly these days.  He has really started to enjoy sitting in this new sling that his mom got, facing out so he can see/help her cook or whatever she is doing.  It is funny because he is sitting in there with crossed legs and then a lot of the time will just cross his hands like this, too.

Sling Cooking

I recently put up a video of him getting a kick out of a mobile above his bed, but we have another one Sara made above his change table.  I never would have guessed how much the kid would love these things.  The one helps him not cry during diaper changes big time and the other is so much fun he will watch it instead of sleep sometimes.  Here is a picture of him checking out the one his mom made him.

hello world!

So this little one is starting to be much more interactive with the world these days.  Here are some videos from the cell phone - pictures just aren't the same!  He is usually really smiley and 'talkative' in the mornings, so one is of that and the other is him giving his mobile from his aunt (thanks!) some loving.

last few days

We had Sara's parents in town over the last few days, which was lovely.  Finally made it over to the Clyde Warren Park, which was also lovely.  Here are a few pics (the first was today after they left, but I just like it a lot):

Work and help

Sara started back to work this past week, so my mom came out to help us out because I would not get a thing done if it was just me here. They have been having fun.

Lately Oliver has been a bit more trouble because they think he has reflux issues. This translates into challenging feeds and a good bit of time on the tummy. All considered though he is still a pretty good baby.

Here he is sleeping on grandma's lap.

So this kid only woke up once last night. Big things are happening around here...

Work out

Now that Sara is 5 and something weeks post bringing Oliver into this world, she has started to so some exercises.  She found some site that gives you some ideas of things to do that include your baby.  Helps to keep them happy and all.  She was doing some leg kick things, which included doing something with him while on her back.  It was super funny because he was doing some deep breathing with her.

In this pic, she was doing these squat things and then the equivalent of a power clean with Oliver.  He seemed to be enjoying himself.

Road warriors

Just got home from Oliver's first road trip today. He did pretty good. Towards the end of today he was a bit fussy and wanted to be done, but then again we felt the same. He has now been in 5 states (6 if you count the corner of Iowa).
Anyways, here is a quick shot of the road warriors. I am the only one awake...

small photo dump

I once read an article that said social networks actually makes us sadder and more envious of our friends because all we see are their happy times, great trips, and mile stones we haven't hit yet.  Think about it - what do you post online?  Just highlights.  When do you look at others' highlights?  When you are sad, lonely, depressed bored or procrastinating.  All great times to contrast the 'happy' you see.  Anyways, one below is a partial effort at full disclosure.  :)
