Africa Pictures!

So this photo viewer below should just show Africa pictures (Never tried this before).  Uganda was amazing.  So much more green and colorful than I was expecting.  You can look at them on here, or you can go to Flickr to see them bigger.  Sadly, you cannot see the descriptions of the pictures if you flip through them on here.  If you want that, you have to bow to the demands of Flickr and go to their page.  Cheers.

Gorilla Trekking

I was given a GoPro for graduation just in time to go to Africa.  Here is the first round of videos - gorillas!  I was surprised how wide of an angle the camera is, making much of this look further away than it was.  This was in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda.  We had a pretty good hike and saw the least habituated group.  Enjoy!

This one is long - includes what we hiked through and what not. Most of the real fun starts at about 11 min, but one just takes a leisurely jaunt by us at about 6:50.

I am a bit behind on photos, so I have had this one around for a few weeks.  Still counts because I haven't done anything with it or shown it until now... at least that is what I am sticking with.

project 52 +/-

Five or so years ago 365 Projects were all over Flickr.  This is a photo project where someone shoots, processes and displays a photo everyday for a year.  I always wanted to do it because it looked cool but never did, mostly because I didn't think I could do it for a year.  A friend of ours is doing a project 52 and trying to recruit others - seems much more do-able so I am thinking I may give it a shot.

Here is number one - and it isn't even the kid!  

Oliver's 6th state

We stopped at a rest stop in Delaware for a bit today to stretch and feed the kid.  They had a nice little fall decoration thing set up so we thought it would be fun to take pictures of him sitting on it.  His Beavers sweatshirt matched nicely.  This is Oliver's what-are-you-guys-making-me-do-now face.

Yesterday Oliver was taking a nap in my arms, which was lovely.  It was funny though because he kept having sleep smiles like crazy.  I was able to get a bit of it on video.



Also, he has started to really jibber jabber.  We noticed it on like thursday or so.  Before then he would "talk" for sure, but not nearly like he is now all of a sudden.  This is funny because now his bed times have started to turn into this some nights:

Costa Rica!

Here are some Costa Rica pics for those of you who have stayed strong and resisted the commodification of personal information known as Facebook....

 Here is the first place that we stayed... right on the beach!  This also also the beach we went running on in that last post.

 We went caving.  Here is Sara climbing down into the caves...

 which were lovely.

 The last night at this beach we staying in one of the 'tree house' rooms that you can see in the first pic.  It was nice.

 Beach.

 Breakfast was included.  And breakfast was good.  Everyday.

 Then we went to the rain forest.  This is where we stayed there.  On a ranch.

 Then we went to stay near Arenal volcano.  We went on a hike to a lagoon at the top of a dormant volcano, and it was super rainy, steep, muddy, and fun.

 But it was also anticlimactic as visibility was terrible.  But we brought mangoes up with us and that helped.

 And our trusty little Jimny.  He got us through some tough times.

 Beach at Manuel Antonio.  It was also lovely.

 And we got to see three-toed sloths in the wild!

 And this beach was also very nice.  I am a much happier beach-goes when we have our hammock along.

 There were wild monkeys all over.  Sara was super, super excited about this.

 Sunset dinner and drinks...

 We rode horses to a 'waterfall' and a swimming hole in a river/creek (dry season).

 We also went to Irazu volcano.  It was pretty neat.

And the countryside was also really nice.

I am sure we will have some more pics when Sara gets home with hers.  These were just some of the pics that I had on my camera.

This is some field off of a 'scenic overlook.' It was odd because partly it reminded me of higher altitude, but then there were these ferns everywhere. the fog was bitter-sweet... made things look cool, but at the same time we couldn't see much.



This is Peggy's Cove, apparently the most photographed place in Canada. It was a cool, tiny town that is probably annoyingly crazy in full blown tourist season. They have a pretty famous lighthouse there.
